Who doesn’t love a taco? Not me I love them! They are so versatile you can put anything in them really. This time I went for steak and I used fillet as I got a nice bit reduced. The marinade is really yummy so I kept the avocado really simple. I just bought my tacos to make it nice and easy.

Ingredients (makes 8)
For the Steak Marinade
- 200g fillet steak
- 1 tbsp kecap manis
- 1 tbsp light soy sauce
- Zest and juice of a lime
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp runny honey
- 1 tsp sweet smoked paprika
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp onion salt (or regular salt)
- Pinch cayenne pepper
For the Avocado
- 1 avocado, flesh only
- 2 tbsp natural yoghurt
- Pinch of salt
To Serve
- 8 tbsp tomato salsa (recipe here)
- Pack of small taco wraps
Directions
- Add all of the marinade ingredients in a bowl, give it a good whisk. Add the fillet steak and give it a roll a few times so the marinade covers all the meat. Cover and put in fridge for at least a few hours.
- Make the avocado cream by blitzing the avocado and yoghurt in a food processor until smooth. I needed a splash of water in mine to get the right consistency. Season with salt and set aside.
- Heat a drizzle of oil in a pan over a high heat. Once hot add the steak and sear on each side for about 3 to 4 minutes. More is you like it well done. Less if you like it pinker. Leave to rest for 5 minutes.
- Pop the tacos in the microwave for a minute. Place the taco on a plate, smooth over some avocado, slice the fillet steak and place a few bits on the avocado. Finish off with the salsa if using. Enjoy 😊
